I’d like to share a new experience. Recently, I demonstrated the glissando technique on the piano to my 9-year-old beginner student. She eagerly started experimenting with it on different notes, imagining herself sliding on ice. I suggested she use the glissando on the final tonic of The Sparrow piece. She loved the idea and played it again with the new ending, cheerfully exclaiming, ‘The sparrow flew away!’
